in Yoruba land, the traditional outfit is the 'iro' the skirt and 'buba' the blouse. i have never been a fan of the attire, i believed it fitted those with super curvy figures better.
the very old 'iro' and 'buba' from the sixties was much shorter and now its back on the fashion scene, i love how fashion always comes back and revamps itself.
In Nigeria its called 'oleku' , the name is so appropriate, the literal meaning would be "its hard to death/ hard core" i guess, LOL!
i had to add these ankara bracelets from Ituen Basi, too gorgeous to be left out |

I love 'Iro and Buba' but hardly ever wear them, 'cos of the weather'. I probably wear one every two-and-half years. I absolutely love them Ankara ones, and I'm pining for them in the summer! :)
ReplyDeletei had tonnes of iro and buba before but i altered them all to up and downs, now i will be investing in them, hot for weddings :D
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of iro and buba but i'll definitely try dis. And i love reading ur blog its interesting :D
